Once again Equita are delighted to have been invited to continue
as event sponsor for Parkex in 2010 and carry on our support of an
industry event that is at the centre of the parking year. 2010
marks a personal milestone for me marking 25 years in the
enforcement profession and Equita's 11th year of exhibiting. It is
through long term commitment both personal and that of the business
that marks Equita out from our competitors bringing a breadth of
experience unmatched in the profession.
2009 saw us continuing our success of previous years winning
several new contracts with London Boroughs, County Councils and
District Councils throughout the whole of the Country. But equally
important has been our retention of contracts through delivery of a
service that continues to improve year on year. Parkex 2010 will be
held at a challenging time for both the industry and the economy as
a whole. With local authorities under severe budgetary pressure the
need for value for money is increasingly important as is the search
for added value and more effective enforcement.
2010 will see Equita continue to invest in people, support systems
and service delivery .
People
In 2009 we launched a major recruitment campaign for field staff
adding to-date 45 new starters. To ensure that these individuals
receive the best possible start to their careers as Enforcement
Agents the implementation of a new City and Guilds Accredited
bailiff training programme was completed in early 2009. 2010 will
see this controlled growth continue. Further recruits will follow,
most with no experience of the enforcement profession and trained
from scratch in Equita's philosophy. At Equita we pride ourselves
on our staff retention record with many of our staff having
committed a large part of their working lives to the business.
Through staff training, staff incentive schemes and rewards, they
benefit from working for a substantial business that is part of the
Capita Group a FTSE 100 company.
Support Systems
We continue to invest in more flexible contact routes and the
launch of our new web site in 2010 will offer debtors new
and improved contact options and a comprehensive advice section.
The role out of mobile chip and pin technology and improved GPS
systems are further evidence of our annual programme of capital
investment that is the envy of the market place. Our in house I.T.
system supported by 2 full time programmers allows us to deliver a
totally flexible solution not shackled by the restrictions of an
externally supplied package. The successful implementation of our
new client web in 2008 has been followed by a programme of
improvements and refinements to the system lead by our clients'
requirements. 2010 will see further investment in this area. A step
up in bespoke software developments with all of the major parking
system suppliers is already underway that will deliver real
benefits to our customers.
Service Delivery
The quality and effectiveness of the service delivered is the major
factor that impacts on a Enforcement Agencies effectiveness. I am
delighted that 2009 has seen our client base continue to grow and
the total monies collected for clients reach new highs. The
delivery of added value options both at the Pre-Tec stage and at
warrant stage has been well received. 2010 will see us continue to
explore new options that will enhance service delivery. More
investment in mobile ANPR technology and an increase in the
profiling and analysis of data promises continued improvements in
2010. As smaller firms of enforcement agents come under increased
financial pressure we will continue to lead the market in the
quality of our service delivery whilst maintaining our commitment
to transparency and proportionality.
I believe that economic pressures in 2010 will continue to
present us with a challenging environment. But I am
equally sure that we will continue to have the
opportunity to demonstrate to new and existing prospects why
Equita remain the natural choice for many of the councils operating
civil parking enforcement. Once again we look forward to having the
opportunity to discuss our full range of service options at
stand E2 at Earl's Court in March.
